Thoughts of a  Service Missionary

at the conclusion of his mission

On my mission, I have worked at the Bishops' Storehouse, Catholic Charities, the mission office, and at local charities called People Assisting the Homeless and Daily Bread. I have also gone out teaching with other missionaries.

I am grateful that I could serve Heavenly Father's children in this community. I am thankful for everything Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have done for me.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I have seen how the Book of Mormon can change people's lives. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He is my Savior.

Our Son is Rydin Hill- he is the blonde in the picture.

Thus is with one of the families.

He is serving in the Mexico City East Mission.

He began June of 2024- and he comes home June 4, 2026.

There are so many stories to share!

He is fortunate that the temple is in his mission and the mission provides them a fund where they can order Ubers to help take friends who are learning about the church to the temple visitor center. He has been developing a deep love and appreciation for the temple. When his preparation day was on Tuesday and his area he made a goal to attend the temple every week. For two transfers he faithfully attended the temple many of those days encouraging the zone to join him. During that time he was blessed to find 2 families (yes whole families) who he was able to teach and take to the visitor center. They strongly desired to become eternal families. It is very difficult to get married and expensive in Mexico with many bureaucratic obstacles and it took these families many months. But both couples were able to get married and then baptized. Sadly, Rydin was transferred to another area before the marriages took place so he was unable to baptize them. But he looks forward to attending the temple with them when they are sealed together as families.

JR COMP. E-7 (TRANSFER 7) ELDER HILTON

ULSAN 2 GROUP, POHANG FLIGHT

MEMORANDUM FOR: ALL PERSONNEL WHO WANT TO READ THIS DOD-LIKE EMAIL

FROM: MISSIONARY RESIDENCE, POHANG KR

SUBJECT: RELEVANT INFORMATION FROM PAST 168 HRS AS MISSIONARY

1. Applicability. This document serves to address E-7 Elder Hilton's mother's anxiety, and to provide all recipients with at least something to read.

2. Purpose. To serve as a reminder of the positive existence of an Elder Hilton in the KBM.

3. Memorandum for Record.

  • Stamp Tour. Approximately 165 hours have passed since engagement with the infamous Gyeongju stamp tour. Led by the fearless Elder Koyle, district members rucked many long hours in the sweltering sun, finally reaching 2/18 stamp tour attractions. Morale was at a record low. Miraculously, all but one made it out alive. Those who are fallen, we will never forget.

  • The Concept of the Trinity. Wednesday, July 2 at 1715 hours, we met with a fiesty old teaching friend who loves to share her strong opinions on the concept of the Trinity. O-3 Elder Lee and E-7 Elder Hilton spent 1.25 hours hearing them. We tried to teach some stuff in there too.

  • Change of Command. O-10 General President Song, General of the KBM, and his wife, Sister Kang, have assumed command after the resign of O-10 President Lim(ret.), and his wife, Sister Kim. An opportunity to meet was provided this week, Thursday, July 3, 1000 hours, at Zone Conference. Zone conference was both an enjoyable and educational event. Member relations was a primary focus.

  • Opposing Powers. Precious teaching friends have faced opposing powers this week. A 15yr old had a mother with not exceptionally nice feeling toward the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Another family declined coming to another week of english class after their attending church's pastor also spoke ill of the forementioned organization. Regardless, we love all parties involved, and are praying for them. Unrelatedly, english class was on the 4th of July, which resulted in a spontaneous performance of the Star Spangled Banner by present missionaries.

  • Fast Sunday. An opportunity to fast and pray for all personnel, leadership, and teaching friends in the KBM was provided on Sunday. Sacrifice does bring forth the blessings of Heaven.

4. Guidance. Aligned with the past week's discussion in Come Follow Me(CFM), and in accordance with recently emphasized and re-emphasized Prophetic counsel, the following guidance will be here included:

  • Be a Peacemaker. Russell M. Nelson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, recently stated: "Anger never persuades. Hostility builds no one. Contention never leads to inspired solutions". I add my own witness to that from events observed this week. President Nelson further spoke: "Charity towards all men is essential to our progress. Charity is the foundation of a godly character."

  • Be Virtuous. The Lord tells us to garish our thoughts unceasingly with virtue. President Nelson again reminded: "Virtue makes everything better and happier! Virtue will free you from anxious, troublesome thoughts".

5. Task and Conditions.

  • Plead with our Heavenly Father to fill our hearts with greater charity—especially for those who are difficult to love.

  • Garnish thoughts unceasingly with only that which is virtuous.

  • These are not to be only occasional events.

6. Implementation. This is to be implemented in the lives of all sons and daughters of loving Heavenly Parents, effective at this time.

7. Miscellaneous Business. Photos of mission experiences can be accesed in Elder Hilton's google photo album.

Love you all. Godspeed.
